We are delighted to introduce robust age and identity verification on the Excite platform today. This allows users to validate their profile and earn a coveted blue tick for their profile. This will show other users that they are genuine and help to combat cat fishing across our sites. Age verification will be mandatory for users uploading and sharing any explicit content, helping to protect against the sharing of content by users under age. This will also comply with some new requirements introduced by Mastercard today.
Mastercard are enhancing requirements for explicit content. Banks that connect merchants to the Mastercard network will have to certify that the seller of such content has effective controls in place to monitor, block and, where necessary, take down all illegal content.
From Friday 15th October 2021, all new members who upload content of an explicit nature on our Excite platform will be prompted to also upload some ID to verify that they are over the age of 18.
By uploading their ID, our members will qualify for our new Verified Profile status at no extra cost. This helps us ensure that no minors appear on our sites and reduces the likelihood of members being ‘catfished’ — making for better, safer experiences all round.
